About Our Firm

Jesse S. Shapiro was first admitted to practice law before the State bar of North Carolina in 2000, after four years of undergraduate study at Colby College in Waterville, Maine and three years of study at Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in Buies Creek, North Carolina (B.A. in 1995, Juris Doctor in 1999).  Mr. Shapiro was active in the Law School Student Counsel and was president of the Law Student Civil Rights Research Counsel for 2 years where, among other things, he organized trips to Texas and Florida to help men, women and children seeking political asylum in the US.

Shortly after graduation, Mr. Shapiro gained admission to practice law within the following additional jurisdictions: U.S. District Court, Middle District of North Carolina; and U.S. District Court, Eastern District of North Carolina.  Mr. Shapiro spent the early years of his practice as a criminal defense lawyer and then moved on to defend insurance companies and self-insured businesses in workers' compensation and personal injury claims.

After three years of defending insurance companies in many trials and mediations; Jesse came to the conclusion that this was not why he became a lawyer.  As a person who has devoted his time and energy to helping others, Jesse became dissatisfied and he decided to go back to his roots.  Jesse is now making good use of his insurance-defense experience fighting for people who have been hurt on the job and have had their lives turned upside down.  Jesse understands how sacred one’s job is…a job provides security, food, a home, and a sense of well being.  Losing these things is no laughing matter and Jesse fights to make sure that injured workers get the benefits that they are entitled to under the law.

In 2005, Jesse made the decision to open his own practice in his home town of Apex, North Carolina and since that time, he has devoted his practice to helping injured workers.  In November 2007, Jesse became one of only a handfull of attorneys accross the entire State of North Carolina who has been certified as a Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law by the North Carolina State Bar.  Jesse is the only workers' compensation attorney in Apex with this certification.  Jesse is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Advocates for Justice and the North Carolina Bar Association.
